The Brief

Overall, Westpac Group comprises five key customer-facing divisions. This included Westpac, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne, St.George and RAMS. The 2018 event hosted more than 300 Senior Leaders from across all the consumer banks at Sydney’s ICC. Above all other goals, Westpac Group aims to make each year’s Senior Leader’s Conference unique and entertaining. This will consequently drive home real value from their investment into their people leaders. The theme for 2018 was centred around ‘navigating their environment’ Internally and externally.

First of all, these presentations are often comprised of strategic content that talks to the nature of doing business. However, not just at the branch, but in Marketing. Secondly, they also communicate how their digital offering manifests the customer-business interaction. Westpac Group needed a presentation for the plenary session, that was well designed, engaging and rather colourful. Above all, the content also needed to be easily understood and memorable. Overall, it needed to have a professional look and feel that represents their group of brands. With 7 speakers, 2 panels and insight from all contributing teams – Persuaders were well poised to communicate and action any amendments up until the 11th hour.

The Solution

Initially, the Westpac Group contacted Persuaders to design a clean, simple layout for the presentation slides. As a result, the Persuaders’ team worked on using their theme and existing brand assets to create something new for their event. In return, they provided multi-layer brand assets that represent all five banks. Firstly, we utilised the wide colour palette on all the slides to represent the brands throughout. Secondly, we used shapes and icons that emphasises sophistication and represent the brand’s aesthetic qualities. Overall, our goal was to instil pride amongst the senior leaders for being a part of the Westpac Group.

We certainly adhered to Westpac Group’s brief. We also maintained a simplistic look and feel throughout the slides. Above all, this layout allowed the content to be easy to follow, while not distracting from the speaker.

Furthermore, we included smooth transition animations. This captures the audience’s attention. It also strongly emphasises on their theme of navigating their environment as the shapes change form between slides. We found a set of stock imagery to talk to the notion of way-finding and the journey itself through uncertainty.

Finally, we agreed to have our designer be onsite for the rehearsals, due to the possibility of any changes. This was actioned the day before the event commenced, in addition to a final run through the morning of the event. Consequently, this allowed the speakers to have input on their slides. Hence, they had the confidence of knowing what to expect. Firstly, when to click. Secondly, where to look in the room for their speaker notes. Finally, what slide was behind them.

The Outcome

Persuaders designed Westpac Group’s professional presentation. Not only from scratch, but also in time for their large event. Furthermore, Westpac found having a designer onsite very helpful. They were also able to display the presentation to their audience with confidence. The presentation complimented the speaker effectively. Overall, the presentation was a great success.

Thank you so much for all your work on last week’s conference. Beth had always told me how great you were – and she was definitely right and I know you had so many amazing presentations to create in such a short time frame. Your ability to work with minimal direction was really appreciated. Look forward to working with you again.
