 Infographics are a visualisation of key insights and data –  a persuasive piece of communication. It is the intersection of Data, Storytelling and Design.

BUT HOW & WHY DO THEY WORK?

Visually engaging content is not only more attractive but humans are biologically wired to process the world visually, which is why infographics are so effective.  Well-designed information plaques interest before information is actually processed.

Well, if you get to this point, we must have don’t something right to keep you reading! ;P In all honesty – everyone is so time poor and the internet is a mammoth vortex that conspires to suck you in and pull you in many different directions, and all at once!

Be concise. Try to use uncomplicated language. Don’t try to hide an essay into your infographic. Be honest with yourself. Put yourself in the audience’s shoes – what sort of detail would they want to know in a short amount of time? This will in turn give you insight into the type of data they will most likely find most compelling.

A good story will help to drive home the key benefits of your data … and make it stick, with conviction on the viewer’s mind! Are you setting out to inform your audience of persuade them to ‘take action’ after they have viewed it? Don’t let your brand get lost in marketing overload. Simplify, engage and make it shareable.
